Social Justice

This is my project that was to show a social justice. I choose the issue with cluster headaches, and how the only cure is illegal. i wanted to make a sort of mini installation showing a person suffering from cluster headaches who is by law forced to suffer, but from behind bars there's a hand reaching to help, so the risk for relief is imprisonment. this project turned out well, i just wish i had painted it. without the paint though, now that i photoshoped the cardboard black and white, i like the way it looks. the colors on the body are supposed to show the pain areas. I also discovered though this project that paper mache is my new favorite 3D material, i cant put something down what i start working with it.

free choice

For my free chice project i wanted to focus more on the watercolor pencils that i used for my self portrait.  I love the way you can spread the color you put down with the pastel/ pencils, but it still will stay in the original position. My concept was just a simple still life at home, and so i aranged a few objects on a table in a group of five, to be asteticly pleasing. the objects are a camera stand, a flannel shirt, ,an udu drum, a orange juice box, abd a pen. I when drawing the still life i aranged everything on the paper the same way i had set it up asymetrically and didnt let the fact things like the camera stand whent of the page bother me. While laying down the colors I worked my way from light to dark and started by creating just the shape of each object with one color, and added detail with each layer i went back with. Sadly, i didnt go back and layer enough so the peice lacks extreame contrast without the rendering. The thing i liked most about this was working from real life, becuase you can look closer at detials than you can with pictures... or even ideas in your head.

self portrait

Ok, so this is my self portrait. I did it using water color pastels and pencils, and its of me doing contact juggling with a fushigi in my room. I meet the criteria by having a full body portrait and placing my self in my room with some linear perspective showing depth to the background.

Obliterate

This was the one word 10 projects assignment. It was really a a push for time, because of the strict deadline, so i learned to manage my time by either finishing a project a day, or at least starting and working on a couple each day. it worked right up to the end were i was crunched for time. i experimented with paint a lot because you could finish a piece faster. Although I really like it, i decided that drawing was going to be what i focused on for my portfolio, and to do the drawing portfolio

10 projects

From doing these 10 projects i learned a lot about finishing work for a strict deadline. I managed my time pretty well though, by at least starting a few projects every to every other day. by the end it was just a race to finish up each of them, which was good because I'd finish one or two project every night for the last few days. I experimented with a a few of different types of media: pencil, cardboard, but mostly paint. I really liked painting too because of how you could fill a ton of space at once instead of how it is with pencil and it takes forever. I wish i had taken painting along side drawing, but what are you gonna do?
anyways, I'm considering doing the drawing portfolio because I feel like my strong point is my drawing, but i will defiantly be painting as well. the 2D design portfolio seems to have a lot more to do with things you learn in design class, and i never took design. It also seems to me that the drawing will be harder, but id rather take the more challenging route because then ill get better.

my final post for summer

and its finally done. i finished  up that colage and i got more done on the skateboard painting. i also took a cool picture that was of a scrap from colaging i ha placd onmytype writer, i think its interesting.

finally, some color

i got some color pencils this week. and i finally start the drawing ive been planning to do of a picture i took of a friends dog named roxy. i also end up going up north with my friends patrick and austin. i took two good pictures of patricks baby cousin. i might color pencil draw oneof them... but anyways, heres the final drawing of roxy. i added some effects on my phone

paint!

yes, i diped back into the paint. and started painting my in motion skateboarding sketh. im using randomecolors just for the shape fr now, then im going to fade in he real colors, leaving it still look a little like the ramdom colors so it would look cool. but thats just the plan.

Cannoe time

this week i went with the group up to johns cabin to record. not a lot of recording got done, but we had a lot of fun on lake michigan. i did some skething on notes while up there, but i dont know what happened to them... but once i got home i did a sketchof a skatboarding picture, but this tim one of those time lapse photo where theres a bunch of shoots of the person in motion. its pretty cool

the month has past

and its august. woot.ive been starting to play music with a group that was called the goodkights at the time. it was alot of fun and inbetween practicing when we wote a few songs we used typwriters, and so i skecthed my typewriter one of the days we used them. im writing my own songs on guitar and ukelele and, inbetween that ive started a big colage for a final project using the skatboarding magazines. they have really come in handy.

bronze penny!?

yeah guess what i came across at work today? a dime that was somehow casted over bronze. or just really nice paint... but this dime got me thinking about how the face of the dime looked so different just from the different shading, so when i got homei sketched and rendered a face that was almost morphing with the shading.

just another week of july

ook so i circled back to sketching from the skateboarding magazines but did more blind contour. also did some strang line drwings. i had also gone to a bonfire where i crafted a realistic paper heart. to bad thats no good.

Blobs, Dali, and Meat

this week i skethed simple cartoony version of an "abstract exprestionistic" painting i had done... its really just blobs and shapes... but still, an interesting take. i created a similar shape to the salvador dali painting. I also tried skething meat carcuses. because kelsey had an idea where i would help by making giant cardboard carcuses. but that didnt happen...

Magazines!

i really liked skecthng the people from the magazines last week so this week i decided i would do just that, but thistime i took advantage of the stack of skatboarding magazines in my closet. i skethed interesting skate photos. inbetween for breaks i would jam with my kaosspad to skatboarding video music for insperation.

Another busy week

these fourty hour weeks are getting annoying now, but theres always still time for art! haha, so i decided i needed  to get a real sketch book and not use a binder so from now on my sketch are all in my book. did some sketchng from magazines, i was looking for poses that showed people doing somthing that required alot of strength beause i felt like that would make for some interesting skecthes. i found someome climbing a pole and some one hand standing. i also took pictures of a coin sculture i put together.

wow what a long week that was

For having all this time off from school im really having trouble finding free time.i worked everyday this and ive got to be honest, i couldnt keep up with the sketching everyday very much. but i did end up taking some pictures while i was stuck at work, not to mention twist up some creative straw figures.

Get it? Im juggling between art and music

ok, I finally got this blog up and running. good thing its just the first week of summer today and im all ready to not fall behind...
This week i started with my sketching for thirty minutes a day, and i started by just doing still lifes of my room. after the still lifes i was getting tired of drawing inanimate object so i drew my cat. it was hard because she dosnt sit still much, but the was one time where she laid motionless on her back for like  minutes, so i took advantge of tht.
